REV. JAMES A. JOHNSON JR.

Rev. James A. Johnson Jr. is a retired U.S. Navy Chaplain who proudly served with the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. During his distinguished career, he deployed aboard multiple naval vessels, including a nuclear-powered submarine, and to Afghanistan with the U.S. Marines. While stationed in Hampton Roads, he served as the Chaplain Corps’ Subject Matter Expert in Emotional Intelligence, helping leaders and service members strengthen resilience and emotional awareness.


Today, James is with PanaceaBHWC continuing to service the community and serves as CEO and Executive Director of Anger Management Hampton Roads, LLC, and formally as a Resident in Counseling and Clinical Neurotherapist with Fly Family Therapy & Neurotherapy, integrating neuroscience, counseling, and faith-based principles to promote emotional healing and peak performance.


A Minneapolis native, Rev. Johnson holds degrees from Atlanta Christian College, Virginia Union University, Regent University, and Liberty University, where he earned his Ed.S. in Community Care and Counseling. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Neurotherapist and an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church South Hill in Chesapeake, VA. Rev. Johnson and his wife, Chanté, are the proud parents of five children and remain devoted to serving God, their community, and those seeking hope and transformation through life’s challenges.
